ABOUT LEANA

Leana Movillion is a classically trained pianist and private piano instructor with experience in piano accompanying, jazz, musical theatre, and a wide variety of musical styles. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Minor in Applied Psychology and Education from UC Santa Barbara. Her classical training provides the foundation for her teaching, while her appreciation for many different genres and areas of music allows her to create engaging and well-rounded lessons for each student.

Leana was born and raised in Daly City, California, where she began playing piano at six years old. Throughout her childhood and high school years, she participated in the Certificate of Merit and National Piano Guild Auditions. Her musical experiences expanded in high school when she began playing piano in jazz band, accompanying choir, and performing as a pianist for school musicals. These experiences sparked a lifelong passion for music and ultimately led her to pursue a career as a professional pianist and music teacher.

While studying at UCSB, Leana developed an appreciation for collaborative piano and discovered a passion for working with youth and enriching their lives through music. After graduation, she built her private piano studio while gaining experience with a variety of music education programs in Santa Barbara, including Girls Rock SB, Musical Minds Piano Keyboard Club, and Kindermusik. She has also worked as an accompanist for several musical theatre companies and schools throughout her career.

Now returning to the San Francisco Peninsula, Leana is excited to bring her experience as a performer, accompanist, and educator back to the community where her own musical journey began.
